Backburner Projects’ president, Fern Dickey, is President of the Business Marketing Association (New Jersey chapter), has an M.A. in educational psychology from New York University, and holds the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation — the highest achievement possible in the meeting and convention industry. She is the author of Last Minute Meetings (Career Press) and has been a featured guest on the topic of last-minute meetings on New Jersey 12’s New Jersey Business with John Witty and on National Public Radio (the Ron Thomas Small Business Forum).

Prior to founding Backburner Projects, Fern was the director of management education and certification for the National Association for Printing Leadership, producing several of the printing industry’s premiere events. She has also worked in the health care industry, including events with the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, the American Chiropractic Association’s Sports Council, and the New Jersey Counseling Association. Private-sector clients include Panasonic and the Mars/Venus Counseling Center.
